The Childhood Asthma Foundation is dedicated to alleviating the suffering of children with asthma, raising funds for research and education, and promoting public awareness of childhood asthma.
Up to 20% of children have some degree of asthma. Recent studies show the incidence of asthma in children under the age of 15, has quadrupled since 1979. For many of these children, asthma will reoccur when they are adults. Asthma diagnosed as mild, will for some children, develop into severe asthma. Asthma is one of the most common diseases worldwide. Despite this, many people underestimate the seriousness of asthma. Asthma is the leading cause of emergency room visits for children, and the number one reason children miss school.
IN CANADA, 10 PEOPLE DIE FROM ASTHMA EVERY WEEK, INCLUDING CHILDREN.
Recognizing the significant increases in asthma in the world, the World Health Organization has called for more research. The Childhood Asthma Foundation receives no government funding, it relies solely on the generosity of the Canadian public. You can help by making a donation.
